Some information on taking tests and surveys on this site:
To take a test or survey, find the language you are studying in
the menu bar at left, and click on the relevant menu item. For
instance, to take a Japanese test or survey, you would click on
"Japanese Tests."
You then will see a login page. You will need your login ID
and password (available from your instructor) to access the test or
survey.
Some important notes about character encodings and input
methods! If you are taking a test in one of the less commonly
taught languages, you WILL be able to type in the language which your
are studying (for instance, Japanese, Arabic, Hebrew), and you can even
do right-to-left typing. However, you are best advised to use a PC
to prevent (rare) difficulties with character encodings. And what you write will not be legible to you, and will most likely appear as a chain of question
marks, unless the browser you are using is set to the correct character
encoding . To set the
character encoding:
-Go to the View pulldown menu on your browser and select
"Encoding" or "Character Encoding"
-Select a character encoding from the pulldown menu. (For
Japanese on a PC, for instance, you would select "Jpanese-
Auto-Select.")
Input methods and right-to-left keyboard entry settings are
dependent on your computer platform, operating system, and the language
you are studying. Information on these things is best obtained
from your instructor, who may have some preferences and requirements.
